The University of Hartford will be closed on Tuesday, Feb. 13. All day and evening classes and activities scheduled for on campus are canceled.

Please note that when campus closing prevents an in-person class from meeting at its scheduled time, professors may opt to conduct classes or provide assignments online. Students should check Blackboard and their email regularly to learn of any alternate arrangements. Online courses are not affected by campus closings and will proceed as scheduled.

B.S. in Community Health from Western Connecticut  State University


Torshia Maxwell was born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where from an early age her mother shared that she was strong willed and opinionated. This is balanced with a genuine sense of compassion for the individuals around her and has guided her decisions with regards to her professional aspirations.

Torshia attended Western Connecticut State University, where she received her B.S. in Community Health, after which she attended Springfield College and obtained her M.Ed in Higher Education. After graduating from Springfield College she worked in the Office of Residential Life at the University of Hartford.

Torshia now serves as the Executive Director of Student Engagement and Inclusion at the University of Hartford. This role will allow her to work intentionally on building student interactions within the University setting and cultivating new relationships within the surrounding community.
